GOTW 03-31-08 Bowie St Softball and Roosevelt vs High Point Baseball

Bulldogs Softball Faces Two Unbeaten CIAA Teams

This past weekend Bowie State faced two teams that were unbeaten in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) conference play. Johnson C. Smith University and Fayetteville State University were the undefeated opponents for the weekend. During the course of the weekend, the Bulldogs defeated both teams in double headers to remain unbeaten. Bowie State was lead by Junior Tiffany Toney, who hit three home runs in two days.

County Class 4A Baseball Rivals in League Play
In early season Prince George’s County Class 4A play defending State 4A Champion Eleanor Roosevelt Raiders met High Point Eagles. The Eagles were one of only two teams to defeat the Raiders during last year’s 24-2 run. This game was like the first rounds of a prize fight. High Point seemed to be taking measure of the champion while absorbing his blows. The Eagles know that if they meet again, it will be in the playoffs and everything that they learn about the Raiders now will aide them in the return match. Bowie and Laurel may have something to say about whether that return match happens, but for now, High Point has to know that last year wasn’t a fluke and they have reason to hope for a return engagement.

GOTW 9-17-07 – Bowie St vs Slippery Rock Football

The Rock Overpowers the Bulldogs
The final score may have been 35- 7, but Bowie State was competitive with non-conference foe Slippery Rock University until 41 seconds before the half.  Slippery Rock’s score just before the half made it 21 -7, and at that point it became apparent that the tide of the game had turned.  Down 14, the Bulldogs tried their best to get back in contention in the third quarter, but a blocked punt recovered on the 1 yard line dashed all hope.  With the ensuing touchdown, the valiant effort of the first half became a distant memory.   Read More …

PGCC vs Cuyohoga Soccer

PGCC Gets Well Deserved Win Against Cuyahoga
Aggressive play by the Prince George’s Community College Owls’ soccer team resulted in a hard fought win against visiting Cuyahoga Community College on Sunday September 9th.  Both sides had to endure the heat as the noon sun blazed overhead.  The sun was not the only adversity that the players had to overcome.  Recent rain followed by cloud free days led to tall grass and this slowed down play on the field.  The reduction in speed led to more contact than a typical game.  A victory over an out of State foe offset all the hardships that the players underwent on the field.
