2010 Lacrosse Registration

2010 Lacrosse Registration Is Underway

Lacrosse registration is now underway for the Bowie , Charles County and Prince George’s County Lacrosse Clubs. We have included the Charles County Boy’s Lacrosse Club on this page because parents in Accokeek, Brandywine and Fort Washington may find the Charles County Lacrosse Club’s practices more convenient. The Prince George’s County Boy’s club is convenient for parents from Camp Springs to College Park and the Bowie Boy’s & Girl’s Lacrosse Clubs are convenient for Kettering and Upper Marlboro. All of these Boy’s Clubs are part of the Southern Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association (SMYLA)! At this time we do not know the status of the Prince George’s Girl’s Lacrosse Club and the Laurel Lacrosse Clubs. With all of the programs available we urge parents to consider as many factors as possible before selecting a team. There will be free clinics listed on our site over the next few weeks so please take advantage.

Bantam Lacrosse Action

Prince George’s County Bantam Lacrosse Action

Three neighboring lacrosse clubs Bowie, Charles County and Prince George’s met this weekend in the Southern Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association (SMYLA) tournament this past weekend. These were end of season wrap up games for the bantam lacrosse teams. Each team played two games against clubs that they very likely hadn’t faced all season. New competition and developing skills led to some intense play. In spite of some very hard hits many players managed to keep the ball cradled and escape from defenders. When the ball was dislodged players fought aggressively to scoop the ball up and gain possession for their team but when the game ended the players exuded smiles. These players are the future of lacrosse in the two counties which have developing interest in lacrosse. If this past Saturday was any indication there is a lot of hope. Bowie fielded four bantam teams and the Charles and Prince George’s Clubs fielded gifted players on their teams.

For two of the last three weekends Prince George’s County has been an epicenter of Lacrosse in Maryland. More than 1,000 lacrosse players from across the state participated in Southern Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association (SMYLA) tournaments in Bowie Maryland. It was difficult to find parking but with games taking place on 7 fields it wasn’t difficult to find good Lacrosse action.
