The 4th Annual Chick-Fil-A All Star Football Challenge matched all-stars seniors from Prince George’s County public high schools against senior all-stars from Southern Maryland Athletic Conference (SMAC) schools. The SMAC All-Stars come from public high schools in Calvert, Charles and St Mary’s Counties. This is a true rivalry all-star game with many of these players having just met in the Maryland State High School Playoffs. It is also one more chance for the seniors to impress college scouts. The game was played on December 10, 2011 at Bowie State University.
The game go off to a fast start SMAC All Stars capitalized on good field position on their first possession moving the ball into the red zone before being thwarted by Prince George’s County defense. This game featured lots of excellent hitting and exciting play. Many of the seniors on both sides were able to make positive impressions on the scouts from Lincoln University (PA), Towson University, Shepherd University (WV),West Virginia State University, Salisbury University, and Bowie State University. The Prince George’s running game proved to be to potent for SMAC defenders and they prevailed 21-10. Even though the game wasn’t a nail biter this year it was a fitting reward for the seniors and we should all thank Chick-Fil-A for their sponsorship.
