The top two public schools are followed by Fairmont Heights (33); Bowie (20); Duval (19); Largo (17); Gwynn Park (16); Suitland (16); Crossland (14) and Friendly with 14.  Largo High School moved out of a 6th place log jam with Gwynn Park and Suitland by wining the 3A state basketball championship .  In the winter of 2008, Prince George’s County had a state semi finalist in every level of boy’s basketball.  

Competition for number one isn’t limited to our public schools, our private schools are producing their share of champions too.  The Bishop McNamara Girls’ Basketball team won the 2008 City Title. Riverdale Baptist’s girls’ basket ball team has won a national title and the boys' baseball program has had 15 players drafted into major league baseball.
