The University of Maryland Gymnasts are noted students athletes. Nine University of Maryland gymnasts received All-Academic honors for the 2006-2007 school year, including three with perfect 4.0 grade point averages (GPA). Their cumulative GPA was above a 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. Their work in the Classroom earned them 23rd place in academic rankings amongst the nation’s collegiate women’s gymnastics teams.
What makes this achievement even more impressive is the fact that the team has grown stronger in competition while excelling in the classroom. The 2006 freshman class forms the nucleus of team that should bring athletic honors for the University of Maryland. The University of Maryland gymnastics team competes in the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL).
