Prince Georges County has two major ice hockey programs .The Bowie Bruins and the Tri City Eagles have travel teams that are a part of the Chesapeake Bay Hockey League (CBHL). They also have in-house recreation teams, learn-to-play and skills clinics, as well as ice hockey camps.
Ice Hockey at all levels is an excellent source of physical fitness. It is so physically demanding that players can only be on the ice for short periods of time. For this, reason hockey players must stay alert for line changes. With all of the line changes all players should expect to be on the ice at some point during the game. Ice hockey’s speed means that the action can switch ends in seconds. Killing penalties requires discipline and team work. This teaches young hockey players vital life time skills. Travel Ice Hockey players also learn time management skills at an early age. Of course, ice skating is a great social activity too. There are few moments in sports that compare with the excitement and camaraderie that follow an ice hockey goal.
